Fourteen students recognised for excellence in Cambridge A Levels

FOURTEEN Sunway College Cambridge students received 15 awards at the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards Ceremony.

Among the awards the GCE A Level programme students received were Top in the World, Top in Malaysia, High Achievement and First Place in Malaysia.

Goh Kai Jet received the first place best across three in Malaysia for Cambridge International A Level.

He expressed happiness over the recognition for his hard work.

“I was fortunate to be surrounded by like-minded peers who are both driven and supportive, as well as receiving guidance from dedicated lecturers, all of whom are extremely experienced and insightful,” he said.

He is also a Jeffrey Cheah Entrance Scholarship recipient.

A tech enthusiast, Goh is planning to pursue a degree in Computer Science as he finds enjoyment in problem-solving.

“Computer science, to me, is the perfect blend of theory and practicality, and enables me to apply my interest in problem-solving to bring tangible results that benefit the world,” he said.

Receiving the first place of best across four in Malaysia was Chow Yue Yao.

High Achievement award recipients were Wong Weng Yan for Chinese Language, Shane You Jing Mcaleavey for History and Lee Han Shin for Thinking Skills.

The Top in the World award recipients were Alistair Fang Ming Yi for Economics, Cheng Kai Xuan and Chaang Tze Shen Tristan for Further Mathematics and Choo Kye Yong, Eunice Gwee Wan Xin and Matthew Teh Yan Chuan for Mathematics.

The Top in Malaysia award recipients were Lee Wen Chong for Chemistry, Cheng Kai Xuan for Physics, Jessica Gan Yee Mei for Psychology and Lim Xi Yun for Literature in English.

Cambridge GCE A Level programme is an international passport for university education and beyond, a widely recognised qualification for entry into the world’s leading institutions.

The Cambridge GCE A Level at Sunway College is officially Malaysia’s best-performing college for the programme.

It has an outstanding track record of over 53% straight A*/As scorers and a 100% pass rate based in the October/November 2022 examination series.
